Kitchen Remodeling Backsplash: Making The Decision

So you are remodeling the kitchen and having a great time. There are so many different aspects of
the kitchen from the countertops to the flooring. Your goalshould be to come up with a design that is appealing to
the eye but also functional. One decision you will need to make earlier on in the design processinvolves the
kitchen remodeling backsplash.
This is one of the most important design features of any kitchen and should be really decorative and fit in
with the theme of the room. You can choose from an endless selection of colors, patterns and styles. It is always
better to choose the countertops before you start working on the backsplash. Some people like to do it the other
way around but the countertops are more important and more expensive.
Once you have decided on the countertop you can work on choosing a backsplash that compliments it nicely. It
can be a bit overwhelming with all the options you have available to you but you can find something nice. Take a
look online or through some design books to get the creative juices flowing. Typically you will be working with
about 18 inches between the countertops and the cupboards and if you want a bit more space you could have the
cupboards raised but this will be an added expense.
You can choose to have the backsplash run the entire length of one wall which is usually the nicest look.
Some even decide to only have the backsplash behind the sink area. You will need to sort out the electrical outlet
issue if you choose to have a longer running backsplash. Figure out whether there is a way to incorporate them into
your design or if you would prefer to just get rid of them.
If you had enough other outlets in the room and you felt they did not look right with the backsplash you
could always have them removed. Always keep a stern focus on color and keep the room cheerful. You want this to be
a place that you and your family and friends enjoy coming to eat and entertain. Once you have finished the kitchen
remodeling backsplash you can work on other areas of the room and finish everything up.
